A Message to Our Community Following the Ice Storm

Broken tree branch in snow

February 2nd, 2026

Dear Friends,

We hope this message finds you safe and supported as our community continues to recover from this week’s ice storm. We are devastated by the impact of the storm, not only within Warner Parks but across the Nashville community. We know many families and neighborhoods are still without power and facing ongoing challenges, and our thoughts are with all who have been affected.

Due to ongoing thawing conditions and instability caused by downed trees and debris, Warner Parks has sustained significant damage. Many trees and large limbs are down throughout the Parks, and current conditions remain unsafe for public access.

The safety of our community, staff, and partners is our highest priority. At this time, Metro Parks is leading all response and assessment efforts, and we are supporting and following their guidance as they continue to evaluate the magnitude of damage and determine next steps toward recovery.

Damage assessments are underway by Metro-contracted workers, and it is already clear that much of the work ahead will require professional arborists and specialized equipment. Applications to FEMA and natural disaster assistance programs are in progress as part of the broader recovery effort.

We have been deeply moved by the number of people who have reached out offering to volunteer and help with cleanup. While it is not safe to involve volunteers at this stage, we are incredibly grateful for this outpouring of support. At the appropriate time, once conditions allow, we will issue clear calls to action for volunteers and community members to assist with restoration efforts. Until then, we must prioritize safety for both the public and those working in the field.

Though the damage is significant, we remain hopeful. Our Parks are resilient, and so is nature itself. With time, care, and collective effort, Warner Parks will recover.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support. We will share updates as Metro Parks’ assessments progress and more information becomes available.

Sincerely,
The Warner Parks Team
