Hummingbird Happy Hour – an evening of Jazz and Art for the Birds

Hummingbirds are a big deal in Warner Parks. The Nature Center is one of only a few places in the country where observers can watch hummingbird banding in action! Bird research has been ongoing here since naturalist Amelia Laskey began her bluebird nesting box program in 1936.

This ticketed event is scheduled for Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Warner Park Nature Center from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Proceeds from ticket and art sales will support the Bird Information, Research and Data (B.I.R.D) programs, keeping these programs free and available for schools, families and Park visitors.

Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will begin at 6:00pm, with guests able to watch hummingbirds at the feeders and also enjoy a debut of a bird-oriented art/photography exhibit by Nathan Collie and Anne Goetze.  Anne’s work can be found in the collections of Tim and Faith McGraw, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus, Naomi Judd, Sen. Fred Thompson, Nancy and John Hiatt, Kim Carnes, Amy and Michael McDonald, Aaron Tippin, and others.

Around 7:30, enjoy an intimate jazz concert on the patio behind the nature center featuring the well-known local jazz duet Annie Sellick and her husband, Pat Bergeson.
